I’ve always found my mornings to be a fairly sacred time. I don’t enjoy rushing around during the morning because it sets the tone for the rest of my day that then feels rushed, scattered, and crazy. Instead, when I start my day with intention and with the practices that best support me for the day ahead, the better I feel throughout that entire day. But here’s the thing, these practices don’t need to be long or complicated. A 10-minute morning yoga class, guided meditation, and journal practice are sometimes all that I need to feel grounded going into the rest of the day.

I often feel like when people think of a morning routine, they expect it to be something that needs to take a long time or will require you to wake up at 3 am just to get your 3-hour practice in before the kids wake up and everyone needs to get out the door. That is not at all what I’m about!

What I am about is finding practices that work for you, being consistent with them, and adjusting them a bit to fit your day. There are days when I wake up before my alarm and feel rested and ready to get out of bed, so I’ll walk down the hall and do a longer yoga practice and/or sit in my meditation longer. But then, there are days when I’m hitting snooze and my mind and body feel groggier. On those days, I opt for a short 10-minute morning yoga class, a 5-minute meditation, and a quick journal of my intention for the day. And this new class is perfect for the latter or any day when you’re a little short on time but still want to get in some movement. Even better, it’s also designed to help support your back!
