Today’s meditation for surrender is for you as much as it is for me.

I’ve had a lot of conversations with friends lately around the idea of trust and surrender. To be honest, this isn’t my strong suit. In yoga, we talk about aparigraha or non-attachment, this idea of not grasping. For me, this often comes up in what I envision for my future, for my life, and particularly for the timeline I desire. It’s just not how things work and sometimes it’s hard to release that expectation.

Just because I’m a teacher of the practices doesn’t mean I am not also a student. As one of my own teachers, Jamie Marion, says, “The more I learn about yoga, the more I learn that I don’t know about yoga.” And let’s be real, she couldn’t be more spot-on with that. Yoga teaches us that we are forever students of the practice and sometimes we have to learn the lessons over and over and over. For me, that is the practice of trust, surrender, and letting go.
